SFDA Says Bawang Shampoo Safe To Use
Mar. 04, 2019
China's food and medicine watchdog Friday passed Bawang Shampoo produced by national company Bawang International as safe to use, stating that the levels of a possibly carcinogenic ingredient were contained in criteria.
A statement issued from the State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA) said tests revealed the levels 1,4-dioxane posed no threat to consumers.
Hong Kong-based Next Magazine had reported that samples of 2 herbal shampoo merchandise out of Guangzhou-based Bawang were discovered to comprise 1,4-dioxane.
The announcement said the SFDA promptly researched and analyzed samples of the merchandise. The SFDA statement said amounts of dioxane below 100 ppm were safe according to internationally agreed standards, but it did not specify the volume of dioxane in the Bawang Natural Herbal Shampoo.
